Brimob personnel arrested for robbery


Jakarta Police has arrested members of the Mobile Brigade Unit (Brimob), identified for allegedly being involved in a jewelry shop robbery.

Mobile Brigade Unit director Sr. Adj. Comr. Ahmad Rifai confirmed the arrest, saying that the police also seized a Colt-type firearm, an assembled handgun, bullets, a van, five gold necklaces and Rp 54 million (US$5,800) in cash.

“The suspects were nabbed in Lampung, as well as in Kuningan and Bekasi of West Java,” said Ahmad on Monday as quoted by kompas.com.

The police are pursuing four other suspects.

Previously, the police arrested five other suspects from a total of 12 people in the burglary.

Kompas.com reported that the alleged gang of 12 people robbed King’s jewelry shop in Bekasi, on Jan. 25, 2010 with weapons. The gang took away jewelry weighing seven kilograms and Rp 20 million in cash
