Mining site closed due to permit problem

Mining company PT Indo Tambangraya Megah has closed one of its coal mining sites in South Kalimantan due to permit problem.

Indo Tambangraya spokesperson Melina Karamoy said the mining site closure was conducted a week ago.

Melina added the firm's subsidiary, Jorong Barutama Greston, had obtained a permit from the Energy and Mineral Resources, but it had yet to get an approval permit from the Forestry Ministry, kompas.com reported.

The Jorong site is estimated to produce 1.97 millon tons of coal, 8.6 percent of the Indo Tambangraya expected production of 23 million tons this year.
