No more blackouts in Southeast Sulawesi as of March 31: PLN

State power company PLN has pledged to stop conducting blackouts in Southeast Sulawesi as of March 31, saying it has rented a generator that can produce 5 megawatts of electricity to meet public demand, says an official.

“We used to make no promise, but now we can assure that there will be no more blackouts,” operational director of PLN regional office Vickner Sinaga told Antara on Thursday.

The company plans to operate the Ni’I Tanasa coal-fired steam power plant on Oct. 31 to put and end to electricity deficit in the area, he added.

The PLN chapter only supplies 32 megawatts, while the demand stands at 38 megawatts.
