Writer skips police questioning, citing illness

Researcher George Junus Aditjondro, writer of Membongkar Gurita Cikeas: Di Balik Skandal Bank Century (Unmasking the Cikeas Octopus: Behind the Bank Century Scandal), failed to turn up for questioning at the South Jakarta Police on Tuesday, citing an illness.

A lawyer for the writer, Panca Nainggolan, said his client had complained of hypertension and was resting after seeking medication at a clinic in Cikini, Central Jakarta.

“His blood pressure rose to 170 over 100 last night,” Panca said as quoted by kompas.com after submitting his client’s request for a rescheduling of his interview with the South Jakarta Police office.

“He will be probably summoned for questioning next week.”

George has been named a suspect for an alleged minor assault, following a lawsuit filed against him by Democratic Party politician Ramadhan Pohan. George hit Ramadhan in the face with his book at a discussion which marked the book’s pre-launch last December
