3 foreigners arrested for 'suspicious activity' at Bengkulu heritage site


Police have arrested three foreigners for conducting suspicious search at Fort Marlborough protected heritage site in Bengkulu City, Bengkulu, police spokesman said Saturday.

Adj. Sr. Comr. Suyetmo, spokesman of the provincial police, told Antara news agency that the foreigners, whose nationalities were not specified, allegedly had been conducting 'research for antiques' during night time at the fort.

Suyetmo said that the men used metal detectors in their activity but failed to show any official research permit.

The police were still questioning the men, he said.
