The export from Indonesia's tourist destination island of Bali to the United States has reached some US$79 million from January to October this year, or contributed 19.2 percent of its total export in that period, the Antara news agency reported on Wednesday.
Wayan Kusumawathi, Head of Bali Foreign Trade at the Provincial Administration, said that despite the ongoing global financial crisis that hit the United States, demands on Balinese handicrafts, households designed with traditional Balinese art and traditional garments remain high.
In term of non-oil and gas goods, Wayan said that Bali is still a big exporter to the United States. She added that most of Bali's non-oil and gas goods exports went to the United States.
Besides handicrafts and garments, Bali also exports vanilla, coffee beans and tuna to the country's market, she said. Wayan said that Balinese handicrafts and household goods have been favorite commodities in foreign markets like in the United States and European countries.
She said that Balinese products offer high quality, embedded with highly crafted arts in each of their designs and are sold at relatively low prices. Besides well known as one of the best tourist destination place, Bali has been designated by the government as a center of Indonesia's creative products.
It is being billed as the 'inside' story of the car crash that led to Tiger Woods' fall from grace. The account, which is sweeping the internet, includes claims that Woods, 33, underwent plastic surgery to cover up the injuries sustained when his wife Elin allegedly struck him in the face with a 9-iron golf club after a row over text messages. It claims the blow fractured Woods's cheekbone and almost knocked out his two front teeth, prompting the star to seek plastic surgery.
It also claims that the facial injuries are the real reason Woods has not been seen in public since the November 27 incident outside his Florida home. But last night there was growing speculation that 91-year-old journalist Furman Bisher had become the victim of an internet hoax.
He claims to have been given the story by a trusted source but critics say there are contradictions in the story and that it has been circulating online for some time. According to the story published on Bisher's blog, Woods flew to Arizona for surgery and his absence from Florida was the reason police were unable to speak with him.
The account claims that Woods and his wife Elin argued after she found text messages from nightclub hostess Rachel Uchitel. It says: 'At one point Tiger turned away to look at the TV, and as he turned back, Elin hit him on the right side of the face with the head of a 9-iron.
'When she struck Tiger, she put a huge gash in the right side of his face next to his nose (causing his nose to bruise some), and virtually knocking two of his upper teeth out, and breaking the bone on the upper right side.
'Tiger ran scared as hell out of the house (which is why he had on no shoes) with Elin swinging the golf club throughout the hallway to the garage (i.e. causing the severe damage which has been reported).
'Tiger hopped in the Escalade [his car] and tried to leave; and as we know Elin knocked out the windows in the Escalade.
'When Tiger crashed, Elin panicked and was not sure what to tell the police (which is why there are two conflicting stories from her)'.
Bisher said the information about came from a colleague of the golf star's agent, Mark Steinberg. However, one respected U.S. golf journalist said he believed the account was a hoax as Woods's agent Mark Steinberg was in California at the time of the incident.
But according to the Bisher story Steinberg met Woods at the Florida hospital where he was treated for his injuries. Other bloggers said it would be unlikely for Woods to leave his mobile phone unattended knowing it contained messages from another woman.
housands of people attended the funeral Thursday of former Indonesian president Abdurrahman Wahid, a moderate Muslim scholar who courted ties with Israel and staunchly defended the country’s pluralist traditions. Flags flew at half mast around the vast archipelago as a sign of respect for the frail but pugnacious Wahid, who died in hospital on Wednesday evening aged 69 from complications arising from diabetes and stroke.
Popularly known as Gus Dur, he was Indonesia’s fourth president, coming to power in 1999 after the first general election following the fall of military strongman Suharto in 1998. President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono praised Wahid’s contribution to Indonesia’s fledgling democracy as he presided over the burial service at a family graveyard in Tebuireng village, East Java.
“Through his words, attitude and actions, Gus Dur made us realise and respect the diversity of ideas and identities brought about by differences in faiths, beliefs, ethnicity and locality,” he said in an address.
“Whether we realise it or not, really, he was the father of pluralism and multiculturalism in Indonesia,” he added, before pouring soil into Wahid’s grave. In the United States the White House praised the father-of-four as a paragon of religious tolerance who helped steer Indonesia through a period of dramatic democratic change.
“A pivotal figure in Indonesia’s transition to democracy, president Wahid will be remembered for his commitment to democratic principles, inclusive politics, and religious tolerance,” spokesman Robert Gibbs said. “He worked for peace and prosperity for all Indonesians, and he sought to be a bridge between people of different faiths.” Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd paid tribute to Wahid as a highly influential moderate Islamic leader.
“Former President Wahid was much admired and respected not only within Indonesia, but also by many Australians and others throughout our region.” China’s foreign ministry spokeswoman Jiang Yu said the former president had made an important contribution to Chinese-Indonesian relations.
The late leader’s younger brother, Salahuddin Wahid, told AFP the family was “shocked, sad and grieving”. “He was humorous, happy, clever, brave and really cared about the community. He was full of life and his fighting spirit was strong. Even when he was sick, he would fight on,” he said.
Wahid rose to political prominence as a leader of one of the country’s biggest mass Islamic movements, the moderate Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), having been a critic of Suharto during the general’s three-decade rule. He defeated Megawati Sukarnoputri to scoop the presidency in a parliamentary vote, only to be replaced by her two years later when the national assembly sacked him amid unproven allegations of corruption and incompetence.
His time in government saw Indonesia emerge from the 1998-1999 Asian financial crisis and stake its claim to membership of the club of democratic nations following the collapse of the Suharto dictatorship. But there were fears the unwieldy archipelago of 234 million people would crumble under the weight of separatist and sectarian conflicts in places such as Aceh, Papua and the Molluca.
Violent Islamic extremism also reared its head with the coordinated Christmas Eve bombings of churches in Jakarta and other cities in 2000, which killed 18 people. Wahid’s response was to crack down on Islamist extremists while seeking conciliation with ethnic separatists, the latter strategy putting him at odds both with the military and the Jakarta elite.
He also broke taboos by calling for diplomatic relations with Israel and an end to a Cold War-era ban on communism. Despite his ailments — he was practically blind and in later years used a wheelchair — Wahid considered a comeback for the 2009 election, even though he was often photographed snoozing at conferences and meetings. NU vice-president Maskuri Abdillah said he would be remembered as a “pluralist” who stood for tolerance in the most populous Muslim-majority country.
“His death is a big loss not just to Nahdlatul Ulama, but also to Indonesians from all races and faiths,” he said.
Chinese takeaway took on a new meaning in 2009 – at least for anyone looking to buy a new car. While Australians may have finally got their tongues around Hyundai and Kia, they're now being asked to digest a new breed of brands from the world's most populous nation. Think Geely, Chery and Great Wall Motors, with the latter choosing the year of the ox to try its hand in a market in love with Toyotas, Mazdas, BMWs and Holdens.
In a market that felt the chill of the GFC (the car industry hardly needed another acronym, especially one as unfriendly as this) that saw sales slide 20 per cent from record levels of 1 million cars-plus, the arrival of Chinese brands was about as significant as Malcolm Turnbull's last supper.
Only a handful of the bargain-priced GWMs found Australian homes, but the automotive industry is bracing for a wave of competition from a country that learns quickly and has big aspirations.
But while the Chinese are thinking big, the automotive industry used 2009 to turn its attention to small. It's all about being green. As the environmental message gathers pace, in 2009 Australians learnt all about carbon dioxide emissions and how using less fuel can help slow global warming.
Now car makers not only spout their vehicles' kilowatts and boot space but also its fuel consumption and grams of CO2 emitted each kilometre. The great Aussie love affair with large cars continued to wane, with the once dominant segment accounting for just over one in 10 new vehicle sales, while small cars are on target to account for 36 per cent of the 900,000-odd sales.
And it's not just the size of the cars going down but what's powering them. Volkswagen's Golf broke all the small car rules, trading engine capacity – its 1.4-litre is 25 per cent smaller than the competition – for the improved efficiency of turbocharging.
It worked: The Golf is the most economical in its class and comfortably won Drive's annual Car of the Year award, the automotive equivalent of Best Restaurant in the Good Food Guide.
Holden, too, was thinking small for its large car that's on target to be the biggest seller for the 14th consecutive year. The Commodore's six-cylinder engine turned the clock back to the 1980s with a 3.0-litre V6 designed to reduce fuel use of the great Aussie large car.
A multi-million dollar ad campaign spruiked the economy benefits of the Commodore, claiming it's up to 10 per cent more economical than the rival Ford Falcon.
But when Drive pitted the two cars against each other in a 1000km fuel economy battle around Mount Panorama, Holden's much-hyped Commodore came out second best. In the ultimate statement that the classic Aussie six-cylinder may go the way of the dinosaurs, though, Ford announced it would soon fit a four-cylinder engine for its Falcon large car.
But it was Toyota that delivered the knockout punch for green motoring in 2009. While the world's most popular hybrid car, the Prius, was being wheeled out in third generation guise, Toyota began producing a hybrid version of the Camry, to go on sale early in 2010. Already fleets are snapping up the petrol-electric fuel miser that could be as much about publicity as the environment.
Electric cars also made their mark on 2009, at least in principal. Mitsubishi promised to start selling its tiny i-MiEV while brands from Audi to Volvo used motor shows to show off some high voltage fare.
BMW, one of many brands against the idea of hybrids, showed off its radical Vision Efficient Dynamics concept, with a diesel-electric drivetrain that the maker claims delivers Porsche-rivaling performance while using less fuel than even Australia's most economical newcomer, Ford's Fiesta ECOnetic (using a miserly 3.7 litres per 100km).
Not even politics stayed out of the 2009 car market. Having incensed car makers with a confusing luxury car tax (many are still questioning why helicopters or yachts don't have a luxury tax yet the humble Toyota LandCruiser is slugged thousands) our esteemed PM through a lifeline to car makers with the 50 per cent investment allowance. The move to allow small businesses to pull forward their tax deduction breathed life in to the market, even leaving some dealers short of stock.
Still, despite the focus on the affordable and the small-is-big mindset, there's still clearly room for some fun in car land. Just ask Ferrari, which revealed its sexiest car ever in the 458 Italia. Screaming V8 engine, two seats and a $500,000 price tag. What economic crisis?
Hey, at least it's more economical than any Ferrari before it. Strangely, though, that wasn't the biggest news surrounding the world's best known supercar brand.
Few could forget Top Gear Live's attempt to deceive showgoers with Toyotas dressed up as Ferraris. All a harmless stunt? Those paying hundreds of dollars for tickets didn't think so. Yes, there's never a dull moment in car land.
A dog has had a miracle escape after swallowing a fairy wand almost the length of her entire body. Pip's owner Ashleigh Fisher raised the alarm after noticing the five-month-old whippet had something lodged in her throat.
A vet's X-ray revealed the animal had swallowed the child's toy whole. Ashleigh, who got Pip as an 18th birthday gift from her parents, said the family first noticed something was wrong when Pip began gulping loudly.
Laura Lamb, trainee nurse at the Bridge Veterinary Group in Middlesbrough said: 'When the X-ray was developed the vet and nurse could hardly believe their eyes.
'A long, narrow object was visible, starting at the bottom of Pip's throat and going off the edge of the plate towards her stomach.'
A second picture was taken, revealing that the object stretched all the way from the little dog's throat right into her stomach. Efforts to remove the wand were unsuccessful and it was decided the only option was to operate.
Following surgery, the staff and Pip's family were amazed to discover that the offending object was a toy fairy wand.
Laura said: 'Luckily for Pip, it did not appear to have done any damage to her insides and she had a good recovery.'
Ashleigh, who also lives with mum Karen, dad Stephen, 47, a builder, 16-year-old sister Abbey, and twin toddler sisters, three-year-olds Emily and Beth, added: 'We had no idea what it could be that she'd swallowed.'
Karen, 45, a council clerical officer, said: 'We knew Pip liked chewing things but we had never known her to eat anything.
'We couldn't believe she had swallowed the whole wand.
'She was a bit quiet but was still on her food so we didn't think anything was seriously wrong.
'We're on our guard now to keep things she could eat out of her way.
'She's doing fine now.'
Unfortunately, Pip did not have insurance at the time and her treatment cost in the region of £500 - an issue Bridge practice administrator Hayley Burgess says the surgery is now trying to make families with pets aware of.
Hayley said: 'A lot of people would have had to make an awful decision in that situation, and some may even have had to put their pet to sleep because they couldn't afford treatment. Insurance can cost very little, so we do recommend people insure their pets.'
The Bridge group has also been running a Christmas campaign this year to help make pet owners aware of festive dangers posed to animals. The dangers on their list includes foreign objects - such as children's toys - which are often left lying around the house at this time of the year.
The group's advice is to treat pets like curious children, and keep everything small out of their reach.
Eclipses of the moon occur twice a year, on average. Each eclipse is visible only on the half of the Earth turned towards the moon at the time the Earth's shadow falls on the moon.
There will be a partial eclipse of the moon on New Year's Eve, Dec. 31. Because of its timing, it will not be visible in North and South America, but will be visible over most of Europe, Africa, and Asia.
The event will also mark the second full moon of the month in North America, thereby garnering the title of "blue moon." Unless unusual atmospheric circumstances come into play — such as widespread dust from a volcano — the moon will not be blue, however.
Since it is a partial eclipse, the moon will just brush past the darkest part of the Earth's shadow, never becoming totally immersed. It will, however, be deep enough into the shadow that shading and reddish color should be visible.
Even though the eclipse isn't visible for most of us in North America, it's still possible to enjoy this event through astronomy simulation software like Starry Night. An armchair skywatcher can use this software to view the eclipse from any point on Earth.
Here's how the eclipse will play out (these times will be the same for most of western Europe and central Africa):
As the sun sets in the southwest, the full moon rises in the northeast. At 6:17 p.m. local time Friday the moon begins to enter the Earth's shadow, though it is undetectable at first. At 7:52, the moon enters the darkest part of the Earth's shadow, called the umbra. Maximum eclipse is at 8:23, and the moon leaves the umbra at 8:53. The last traces of the shadow are gone by 10:28.
Observers in other parts of the Old World will have to make adjustments for their local time zones. Australians may catch a glimpse of the eclipse just before moonset at dawn on Jan. 1. Again, the eclipse is not visible from the Americas.
Famed for it's spectacular ring system, this stately, natural-colour image has captured Saturn as you rarely see it. The planet dwarfs its icy moon Rhea in this image from Nasa's Cassini mission, with just a single dark band where we would expect to see the thousands of orbiting rings.
Rhea, which is 949 miles across - almost the distance from Land's End to John o'Groats - is captured orbiting beyond the rings on the right of the image. A small shadow below the rings on the left is cast by its moon Tethys.
This awe-inspiring picture was taken with the wide-angle camera on the Cassini-Huygens robotic spacecraft mission, a co-operative project bewteen Nasa, the European Space Agency and the Italian Space Agency. Images taken using red, green and blue spectral filters and then combined to create this natural colour view.
The image was taken aboard the Cassini orbiter on 4 November, from 808,000 miles away. Saturn is the second biggest planet in our Solar System and takes up the same space as around 833 Earths.
Classified as a gas giant the planet has sixty-one known moons. Astronomers have been baffled by Saturn's rings ever since they were discovered by Galileo in 1610.
The rings are each composed of billions of ice and rock particles, which range from being as small as a grain of sugar to as large as a house.
Poachers still continue to hunt the remaining Sumatran tigers (Panthera tigris) in the Bengkulu forest, conservationist Radius Nursidi of the Profauna nature conservation organization said. "Based on its survey in March, Profauna found at least 12 tiger traps in the Seblat Elephant Conservation Center (PKG) in North Bengkulu," Radius said here on Tuesday.
He said that Profauna conducted the survey only in one area, namely around the PKG forest park where it found at least 12 tiger traps." he said. Poachers also hunt elephants in the Seblat forest park, he said.
Due to the illegal hunting of elephants and tigers in the Seblat PKG forest park in Putri Hijau subdistrict, North Bengkulu, the population of the protected species was increasingly threatened.
"Since 2004, Profauna has recorded that at least eight elephants have been killed," he said. Tiger and elephant poaching in the Bengkulu forest was a serious threat to the population of the protected animals, he said.
The modern strawberries that we use today belong to the genus Fragaria. The fruits that we now consume come from the Americans, a hybrid variety of the strawberries seen in North and South America. It belongs to the class of Magnoliopsida under the division of Magnoliophyta. Rosaceae is the scientific family name of strawberries. The sub family to which this fruit belongs to is known as Rosoideae. There are more than twenty species of named varieties of strawberries found on earth till today. A large variety of hybrids of this fruit is also now available in the market.
The most common varieties of this fruit are grown commercially and belong to the cultivators of Garden Strawberry. The taste of a strawberry fruit basically depends on the cultivator. Strawberry is considered as an accessory fruit. Unlike other fruits the fleshy parts of this fruit is not derived from the ovaries but from the peg at the bottom of the hypanthia that are attached to the ovaries of the plant. For this reason the fleshy part of the strawberry cannot be called as the fruit of the plant. It is the seeds that we find on the outer part of the strawberry constitute the real fruit of the plant.
The typical strawberries that we now see in the market actually come from the Americans who have dared to experiment them with two different varieties of strawberries found in North and South America. This new hybrid variety of strawberries was nothing but an outcome of the attempt made by the European horticulturalists to rectify a mistake of taking only female strawberry plants from South America to their labs. They had no other option but to cross them with the North American varieties to get fruits and seeds from the plants that they had brought from South America.
The genus name of strawberry; Fragaria comes from the term "fragans" indicating the perfumed nature of the flesh of strawberry. This fruit is known for its ability to cure diseases such as digestive disorders and gout. It can also be use as an effective tool to keep the radiance of the skin by making the skin free of blemishes, rashes and for protecting from sunburns. Madam Taliien, a known figure during the French revolution used to take strawberry baths to keep her skin fresh, radiant and free from blemishes. Until the mid of nineteenth century strawberries were considered as poisonous in Argentina.
There exist two versions about the origin of the name strawberry. According to the popular etymology, it is the practice of the cultivators who used to make mulch using straw to protect fruits from rotting hence the name ‘straw’ berry to this fruit. The other version regarding the origin of the name strawberry believes that the name strawberry come from the strewn nature of the plant that spreads around the ground. The preachers of this version believe it to be originated from the Anglo-Saxon verb for ‘strew" meaning to spread around. However there exists no evidence to show whether Anglo-Saxons ever grew strawberries in their land.
For thousands of years astrologers have claimed that disasters are foretold in the movement of the planets. Now a new study suggests they might be right.
Scientists have discovered that the faint gravitational tug of the sun and moon can set off tremors deep underground in one of the world's most dangerous earthquake zones. Although the pull of planetary objects is too weak to set off a full blown quake, the findings suggest that they could set in motion a chain of events, leading to devastation on the surface.
The findings come from a study of the San Andreas Fault - the infamous crack in the ground which triggered the 1906 San Francisco earthquake and the deadly fires that followed. The fault marks the boundary of the Pacific and North America tectonic plates and runs 800 miles from the southern California desert to northern California.
American earthquake experts compared records of 2,000 small tremors in the Parkfield region 170 miles north west of Los Angeles with the movement of the sun and moon over eight years. The same gravitational tugs that create the tides, also trigger small tremors that originate around 15 miles below the ground, the team report tomorrow in the science journal Nature.
Dr Roland Burgmann, a professor of earth and planetary science at University of California, Berkeley, said: 'Tremors seem to be extremely sensitive to minute stress changes.
'Seismic waves from the other side of the planet triggered tremors off the coast of Washington state after the Sumatra earthquake last year, while the Denali earthquake in 2002 triggered tremors on a number of faults in California.
'Now we also see that tides - the daily lunar and solar tides - very strongly modulate tremors.'
The sort of tremors monitored by the scientists are normally linked to volcanic activity - not earthquakes. They usually warn of a forthcoming volcanic eruption.
The researchers believe the rock 15 miles below the surface is lubricated with highly pressurised water that allows it to slip around with little effort.
That explains how the faint tug of the sun and moon can cause the rocks to slip.
A spokesman for the researchers said: 'Though tides raise in the Earth by the sun and moon are not known to trigger earthquakes directly, they can trigger swarms of deep tremors which could increase the likelihood of quakes on the fault above the tremor zone.'
Earthquakes are caused by the movements of the earth's tectonic plates, and often occur where two plates are rubbing against each other. Research hope the new study will inch them closer to the Holy Grail of geology - a way of predicting major quakes before they happen.
Scientists are currently only able to work out probabilities of an earthquake by calculating how much stress is building on a fault.
I had a discussion recently with friends about the various depictions of space combat in science fiction movies, TV shows, and books. We have the fighter-plane engagements of Star Wars, the subdued, two-dimensional naval combat in Star Trek, the Newtonian planes of Battlestar Galactica, the staggeringly furious energy exchanges of the combat wasps in Peter Hamilton's books, and the use of antimatter rocket engines themselves as weapons in other sci-fi. But suppose we get out there, go terraform Mars, and the Martian colonists actually revolt. Or suppose we encounter hostile aliens. How would space combat actually go?
First, let me point out something that Ender's Game got right and something it got wrong. What it got right is the essentially three-dimensional nature of space combat, and how that would be fundamentally different from land, sea, and air combat. In principle, yes, your enemy could come at you from any direction at all. In practice, though, the Buggers are going to do no such thing.
At least, not until someone invents an FTL drive, and we can actually pop our battle fleets into existence anywhere near our enemies. The marauding space fleets are going to be governed by orbit dynamics – not just of their own ships in orbit around planets and suns, but those planets' orbits. For the same reason that we have Space Shuttle launch delays, we'll be able to tell exactly what trajectories our enemies could take between planets: the launch window.
At any given point in time, there are only so many routes from here to Mars that will leave our imperialist forces enough fuel and energy to put down the colonists' revolt. So, it would actually make sense to build space defense platforms in certain orbits, to point high-power radar-reflection surveillance satellites at certain empty reaches of space, or even to mine parts of the void. It also means that strategy is not as hopeless when we finally get to the Bugger homeworld: the enemy ships will be concentrated into certain orbits, leaving some avenues of attack guarded and some open. (Of course, once our ships maneuver towards those unguarded orbits, they will be easily observed – and potentially countered.)
Creating the garden should not be long. If not carefully planned, will only create a bush and littering the landscape.
A park was created in order to bring the beauty. Whether or not a beautiful garden of the election determined softscape and hardscape materials, color composition and shape, and overall harmony of design.
Some of the planning process are often ignored because it seem trivial, but actually very decisive beauty of the park later. Following points should be observed, so that the park is actually created in accordance with our expectations.
Two key things to prepare is preparing garden designs or concepts and technical persipan. Preparation is the design engineering design drawings in accordance with the concept of garden garden design desired.
Making the pattern of land, preparation of electrical and water installations, peletakannya, and determining the point of planting a few things that must be summarized in the concept design created.
This design will serve as guidelines for subsequent plans. To create this design, should consider some technical work to be done to make the park. The following description.
Preparing Land
These activities include excavation work and the reversal of land, hilling, penggemburan, and provision of fertilizers or addition of nutrients in the soil. In addition to prepare land for crops planted and ready to have the appropriate contours of our expectations, this process also frees the land from weeds that will interfere with future plant growth.
This process is often overlooked because often we do not wait to get or directly to plant so that the results are often disappointing: the plants die and do not grow well because of disturbed weeds.
Creating Garden Construction
In this process of planning and making the path taken. This element is important for the circulation path in the park so that all activities undertaken in the park do not interfere with future sustainability of the growth of plants and other elements. In accordance with the extent of the park, design and materials, the path can be made in a variety of options.
Defining Elements Hardware Park (Hardscape)
Which includes the hardware elements of the park are various pots, rocks, lights, and other accessories that will be used as a complement the park, both functional and aesthetic role.
Elements of Software Park (Softscape)
Various types of plants, the choice is planned in this process. It is considered a matter of plant species (shrubs, bushes, and protector). About colors (flowers and leaves) jugs into something that must be considered because it determines the splendor of the park is created and harmonization of existing colors.
The character of each plant concerned: the speed of growth, canopy shape, resilience in responding to the weather (both hot sun and rain / water), determine the choice of plant species that will be used.
Planting and Peletakar Hardscape
Crop planting starts from the protective plants (high) and so is the lower plants to plant ground cover. The spread of coral stone, gravel, stone step, and installation of garden lighting and other accessories made after planting.
The spread of coral preceded by the laying of the fibers in permukakan coral will be given to maintain the water circulation in order to continue to seep into the ground dar park was flooded.
Pemalang city not only has grombyang rice, sliced meat dish of buffalo, similar berkuah Rawon. Located on the north coast of Java, Pemalang District has a long coastline, more than 20 kilometers, so the waters of the sea storing wealth.
Abundant marine products that inspire Pak Kardi building Restaurant (RM) Pak Kardi (Special Crab and Sea Food). Occupying stalls in front of Ulujami District Office, a few hundred yards from the monument boundary-Regency Pekalongan District Pemalang, RM Pak Kardi renowned as a provider of home eating various seafood dishes.
"They are serving the raw material directly from the fishermen from the beach deposits Pemalang. So, fish, crabs, squid, and shrimp were fresh. Their raw materials are fresh catches, no savings in the cooling cupboard," said Winarno, retired Chief Pekalongan BKKBN office, a big fan of cooking fish in Semarang.
RM special dish is the crab Kardi As plump. Plump crab is a term used to refer to a culinary connoisseur of crab eggs, which contain his crab eggs, the most delicious crab is cooked in sweet and sour. Behind the shell, connoisseurs will find a collection of red eggs and very tasty. Savory taste immediately felt on the tongue when bitten by a broken crab eggs.
Find it quite easy to stall, let alone Ulujami Road is a road-Pemalang pantura Jateng veins. From the direction of Semarang or from Jakarta, are now looking for work because of RM Sub Ulujami Pak Kardi was right in front of the district office.
According to children Pak Kardi, Tuminah, he was managing the diner after Pak Kardi died three years ago. His father pioneered the seafood dishes business since 1974. She opened the diner in the Village officially Ulujami since 1984. RM now has a branch in the village of Pak Kardi Purwisari, Comal, or about 10 miles west of Ulujami.
Wagiyo, Pak Kardi-law, explained, since the beginning they chose to serve crab specials. There are three types of crab eggs of crabs, crab soka, and ordinary crab. They spend 6-8 pounds of crab per day. One kilogram contains approximately 2-3 tails.
"We rely on deposits from the crab fishermen. Crab eggs typically takes about ordering because not all crab catches have eggs," said Wagiyo.
This unique accompaniment crab dish is complete mortar. Empty mortar was not to make a sauce, but to break the shell of a crab.
In an instant Public Jejamuran was full of visitors. Monday (9 / 11) afternoon Niron Hamlet, Pendowoharjo, Sleman, Yogyakarta, was rushed into the rainy season.
Hardjo Ratidjo Soewarno (65), owner of the shop, came up with oyster mushroom chips in his hand. "Please try," he said kindly.
When the time 14:00 o'clock, the chair shop totaling nearly 250 full-filled fruit. "Every day like this," he added while snacking on chips Ratidjo mushrooms.
Visitors shop which started started in 2005 was not supposed to like mushrooms in the rainy season, grew constantly. Even the afternoon there were some visitors who claimed to come from Kalimantan and East Java. "We are interested in eating here because the menu is unique," said the man from Kalimantan visitors who came with his family.
Menu in Public Jejamuran not only unique, but also harbored aspirations to break the myth of mushroom can cause poisoning and the wishes of the farmers living up the cycle of poverty.
Ratidjo with his wife, Indaryati (52), never gave up experimenting since 2005 to find the right formula for cultivating mushrooms. "My wife wants just one, how to make mushrooms as daily food," said Ratidjo.
The ideals were later embodied in the form of processed mushrooms to taste the local menu. Indaryati make mushrooms as satay, tongseng, gudeg, Pepes, rendang, soup, and grilled mushrooms. Menu now also developed into a tom yum soup, crispy mushrooms, and shiitake mushroom omelet.
All the local menu initially tried Indaryati presented only from house to house around Pendowoharjo. "We sell the homes until the clinic, before finally opening shop in the Village tent Niron this," said Ratidjo.
In 1997 the couple's tent stalls are destroyed hit by wind. That's what Ratidjo-hardened determination Indaryati to build restaurants in the current location.
Not easy
Cultivating mushrooms taste the local menu is not easy. Not all types of fungi suitable for satay or tongseng, for example. "We do not just consider the fiber, but also seemed to fit with the type of cuisine," said Ratidjo.
Indaryati later discovered that the mushrooms are suitable to serve as satay is kind of white oyster mushroom, mushroom tongseng from, rendang of button mushrooms, shiitake mushrooms Pepes from acid-sweetness of the oyster mushroom gray, gudeg and spring rolls from the red oyster mushroom, grilled spicy chocolate from oyster mushrooms, soup of the white ear fungus, and tom yam of button mushrooms and rice straw.
The findings of this mushroom material, Ratidjo said, should be treated with the right spices so it's also not unusual in the consumer's tongue. Strangeness think it really should be avoided because most Indonesian consumers are still poisoned by the myth that eating mushrooms can cause poisoning.
"Many who do not know the results of mushroom cultivation, rather than take in any place," said Ratidjo.
My lunch menu that day tongseng mushroom satay and Carica Squash plus drinks.
