Bank Century case must be brought to law: Anwar

Former Bank Indonesia senior deputy governor Anwar Nasution has suggested that the government settle the Bank Century bailout case in court as it carries many violations, including bailout fund transfers to unclear depositors.

Anwar said the fact that some depositors split their money using false identities had complicated the bailout.

“But the most dangerous thing is the bailout recipients who have remained undisclosed. This has forced people to speculate, and no one is willing to be responsible to its impact,” Anwar was quoted by Antara on Wednesday.

Bank Century's bailout, which ten-folded to Rp 6.76 trillion (US$716 million) from its original estimation, was authorized in November 2008.
