Jakarta on alert as Depok water level up

Jakarta residents have been alerted of possible floods as the water level of Ciliwung River surged to 205 centimeters at the Depok monitoring station at 10 a.m. on Friday.

Depok water gate officer Adi Suhardi said the increasing level of the river water served as a warning for Jakarta people living along the river banks to anticipate the floods.

“The impact will be felt in Jakarta in six hours,” Adi told Antara.

Floods hit several parts of Jakarta over the weekend, displacing at least 1,000 people in East Jakarta.
