Floods claim two lives in Pasuruan

At least two people were killed as floods hit the East Java town of Pasuruan on Saturday.

Local media reported the two people were swept away by the raging river that flows through Pandaan district, one of the three areas hit hardest by the disaster. The dead victims have remained unidentified as of Saturday evening.

Hours of heavy rainfall caused rivers that dissect the town to overflow and inundate housing complexes and rice fields.

The floods also left some parts of the major roads connecting the town and its neighbors chest-deep in water, paralyzing the traffic to and from Pasuruan.
