Susno: Police have special team to target Antasari, Bibit, Chandra

Former National Police chief of detectives Comr. Gen. Susno Duadji revealed on Sunday that the National Police had a special team tasked to target former chairman of Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Antasari Azhar, currently facing murder trial, and KPK deputy chiefs Bibit Samad Rianto and Chandra M. Hamzah, Tempointeraktif.com reported Monday.

Susno, whose court testimony sparked crisis at the National Police, said that he testified for Antasari before the court because "I wanted to explain, so that the judges know, and consider everything in the right way in handing down the verdict (against Antasari)."

"It is true that I signed that letter. But what I signed was a letter on Investigation Supervisory Team. There is another team outside this team. (Antasari's) Lawyers call it the Motivation Finding Team," Susno told Tempo.

Susno explained that the team was assigned not only to target Antasari, but also to target KPK deputy chiefs Bibit and Chandra.

"The result is a failure because the team cannot bring Pak Bibit and Pak Chandra to the court. That's the goal. But, the one suspected of criminalizing the KPK is me," Susno said.

Susno also confirmed that following his testimony, a truck-load of anti-terror policemen were sent to his home. "That night, one truck of Densus (anti-terror) policemen came to my home not to terrorize me. Maybe, they just wanted to silaturahmi (maintain friendship). Maybe, they miss me."

He said he would follow what the National Police would do to him, including the questioning. However, he urged the National Police chief to send reform minded police officers, not corrupt police officers, to question him.
