Herman surrenders, taken to military court

After a two-day standoff, Military Police finally managed to bring Brig. Gen. (ret) Herman Sarens Sudiro to testify Tuesday before a military tribunal over allegations of embezzlement.

Herman, accompanied by former youth and sports minister Adyaksa Dault, was taken to the Indonesian Military headquarters in East Jakarta, kompas.com reported. In the same care, there was Maj. Wilder Boy sitting on the front seat.

The 19-car motorcade left Herman's house at the Taman Telaga Golf gated community complex in Bumi Serpong Damai, Tangerang, at 10:20 a.m.

The National Police said earlier that the Military Police had raided the house Monday in an attempt to get Herman to attend the tribunal over allegations of embezzlement of TNI assets. Herman had defied previous summons.

During the holdout, Herman and his sons reportedly threatened to shoot if the Military Police insisted on hauling him off.

Negotiations failed to end the standoff Monday, and Military Police officers stood guard around the house through the night.
